A series of site-specific artworks for new public spaces within the Clarence Dock development and Royal Armouries Square. Converse was a creative engagement project devised in partnership with artist Jane Revitt and writer Adrian Tissier. Through a series of creative sessions we recorded the personal, emotional and intellectual responses of visitors and staff.
The Royal Armouries Museum Leeds are keen to humanise their collection. Converse is intended to engage visitors before they enter the museum. Armouries square is inlaid with comments collected during our engagement process, refugees, war veterans and peace activists were some of the community groups who we invited to respond to the museums collection. Their views are juxtaposed to encourage thought and debate about human conflict.
Elements of Converse link directly to objects within the museum collection.
