BIOGRAPHY
I trained in Fine Art (painting and printmaking), at Wolverhampton University. After graduating I was appointed as Artist in Residence at The Kings School Worcester where I developed my practice and honed my skills in teaching art. I taught drawing, on foundation art courses, at Worcester College before moving to Manchester to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies (specialising in education).
In 1994 I was appointed Artist in Residence on a Public Art led, housing regeneration scheme in West Yorkshire. Through several further commissions I forged a strong commitment to creative community engagement. Working within project design teams, I would open up a creative dialogue with local people which acted as a catalyst for design and the development of site-specific artworks. Meaningful, creative community engagement was always central to my work. It helped to uncover a unique local narrative, fostering a true sense of local ownership.
Over 20 more years, I continued to work collaboratively with other creatives, including architects, designers and engineers to design site-specific artworks and public spaces across the North West. I have been lucky enough to work on an extensive range of arts projects within Healthcare, Urban Regeneration and in Housing Renewal contexts. Past clients included: Kirklees, Salford & Wyre MBC; South Manchester Regeneration Team; Manchester University Hospitals Trust; Crosby Homes.
In 2014 a total change of direction came when my husband retired and together we decided to spend our time travelling. Since then my creative focus has returned to painting.
